As per electricity act 2003, the distribution licensee model is based on the fact that a company possessing such license will maintain an efficient, coordinated and economical distribution system in his area of supply and to supply electricity in accordance with the provisions contained in this Act.

BROAD BAND OVER POWER LINE MODEL
Broadband over power lines (BPL), also known as power-line Internet or Powerband, is the use of Power Line Communication technology to provide broadband Internet access through ordinary power lines. A computer (or any other device) would need only to plug a BPL "modem" into any outlet in an equipped building to have high-speed Internet access.
AUTOMATED METER READING MODEL
Automatic meter reading, or AMR, is the technology of automatically collecting data from water meter or energy metering devices (water, gas, and electric) and transferring that data to a central database for billing and/or analyzing. This means that billing can be based on actual consumption rather than on an estimate based on previous consumption, giving customers better control of their use of electric energy, gas usage, or water consumption. AMR technologies include handheld, mobile and network technologies based on telephony platforms (wired and wireless), radio frequency (RF), or powerline transmission. |
